Privacy

For questions regarding personal data handling and privacy, please contact: privacy@levebee.com

At Levebee, we take privacy seriously. Because our application serves children under the age of 13, we have implemented strict safeguards to protect children’s data in compliance with United States federal and state regulations.

Children’s and Student Privacy

COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act): We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without Verifiable Parental Consent. When Levebee is used in a school setting, the educational institution acts as the parent’s agent (in loco parentis) to provide consent for the collection of student information under the “School Exception.” This data is used solely for the benefit of the school and the student’s education.

FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act): Levebee acts as a “School Official” with a “legitimate educational interest.” All student education records remain the property of, and under the control of, the educational institution.

Zero Marketing to Students: Student data is never used for targeted advertising, marketing profiles, or sold to third parties. Marketing communications are strictly limited to adult account holders (teachers, administrators, and parents).

1. Data Collection: Adults vs. Students

To comply with US privacy laws, we strictly differentiate between the data collected from adult users and the data collected from students.

Adult Data (Teachers, Administrators, Parents)

We collect data necessary to manage accounts, process billing, and communicate regarding our services.

  • Identification Data: First and last name, email address, IP address, and school/district name.
  • Contact & Billing Details: Address, telephone number, and payment/invoice records.
  • Communication Records: Logs of support requests or general inquiries.

Student Data (Children under 13)

We collect only the absolute minimum data required for the app to function educationally.

  • Educational Outputs: Teaching practices and math progression data.
  • Voice Data (Real-time Processing Only): When students speak numbers, equations, or answers aloud, the audio is transcribed in real time to power the app’s core educational function. Voice recordings are strictly ephemeral; they are never saved, stored, or recorded on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Data

We process data based on the type of user and the specific operational need.

Educational and Internal Operations (Student Data)

  • Providing the Service: Operating the app and allowing educators to track math progress and skill acquisition.
  • Machine Learning & Improvement: Because voice audio is never stored, we rely solely on pseudonymized, non-audio data (such as math progression metrics and automated text transcripts) to improve the application’s automated recognition capabilities. This data is stripped of identifiable markers and is never used to build commercial profiles.

Business Operations (Adult Data Only)

  • Contract Performance: Setting up accounts, providing customer support, and fulfilling contractual obligations.
  • Marketing and Analytics: Evaluating the success of marketing campaigns and sending business communications about Levebee updates. Adult users can opt out of these communications at any time.

3. Data Sharing and Processors

Your personal data is processed primarily by Levebee s.r.o. (parent company) and Levebee Inc. (U.S. subsidiary). To provide our services reliably, we utilize carefully selected third-party subprocessors (Vedos, Brevo).

We do not share student data with any third parties except those essential subprocessors who are bound by the same strict confidentiality agreements. We will only disclose data to outside authorities if required by a valid legal subpoena or court order.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy.

  • Student Data: Student records and progression data are retained only as long as necessary for their educational purpose. Student data will be permanently deleted or de-identified upon the specific request of the school district, or when the school’s contract terminates. Note: Audio files are never retained, as they are instantly deleted after real-time transcription.
  • Adult Data: Account and billing information is retained for the duration of the active contract and subsequently as required by applicable US state and federal financial record-keeping laws.
  • De-identified Data: Data used for machine learning and scientific research is stripped of all personally identifiable information once the retention period expires, ensuring the user can no longer be identified.

5. Security Measures

We process your data using secure automated systems and restrict manual access to authorized personnel only. We implement robust technical and organizational measures to protect against unauthorized processing, accidental loss, or data breaches. These measures are regularly reviewed and updated to meet modern cybersecurity standards.

6. User and Parent Rights

We process personal data transparently. Depending on your role, you have specific rights regarding the data we hold.

Parents and Guardians: If your child uses Levebee through a school, please contact your school administrator to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your child’s personal information. Because the school provides consent and controls the educational records under FERPA, Levebee will route all parental data requests through the respective educational institution.

Adult Account Holders: You have the right to access the data we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate data, request the deletion of your account data, and opt out of any marketing communications. You may also request a copy of your personal data in a commonly used, machine-readable format.

To exercise any of your rights as an adult user, or for school administrators submitting requests on behalf of parents, please contact us at support@levebee.com. We will process your request promptly and in accordance with applicable laws.
